Julia Malik

Julia studied Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna. In April 2022, she joined the department of Science, Technology and Society Studies at the University of Klagenfurt as university assistant. Her research interests include kinship and genetics, care and state, and bureaucracy and documents. In her master thesis, Julia ethnographically investigated practices and norms of care at a public hospital in the Philippines. Currently, she is working on her PhD project at the intersection of anthropology and science and technology studies (STS), investigating how practicing digital welfare shapes statehood in Colombia.
